And here it is! Some months later, the Rocket is ready for departure 🙂

Once the boiler has been assembled. It is time to add the chimney, which has previously been painted.

A fairly simple task. Again, measuring, cutting and placing the nails together. Some high quality super glue and et voilà!

A fairly simple task on paper, however…

I measured, cut and glued the aluminium bands to the cylinder – easy enough with a decent quality superglue, but if you use a cheap glue you might embark on a bit of a mission and will probably corrode the wood, the metal and the paint, just like I did… For this reason I can’t recommend high enough to invest some money in high quality glue – it will not only make your life (a lot) easier but it will also be gentle on your model. A gel non dripping glue is the best option in this case as it will attach the aluminium bands to the cylinder quickly and won’t destroy it.

Assembling chasis and steam boiler requires some patience and a mask!

After some measuring, cutting, sanding, gluing, filling with putty, sanding again and painting… I can proudly say that my loco is taking shape 🙂
